Dr Carole Durussel Carole Durussel

Dr Carole Durussel joined the IASS Ocean Governance team in 2015. Her work focuses on regional ocean governance, with a particular focus on the legal and institutional framework for the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction (ABNJ). She holds a diploma degree in marine environmental sciences from the University of Oldenburg (Germany), a graduate certificate in business administration, and a PhD in international marine environmental law from the University of Wollongong (Australia). Prior to her PhD studies, Dr Durussel worked at IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) on the Global Ocean Biodiversity Initiative (GOBI), an international partnership aiming to help with the identification of ecologically or biologically significant areas (EBSAs) in ABNJ.
