Sebastian Unger

Sebastian Unger is head of the Ocean Governance research area at the IASS. His research focuses on political and societal transformation processes for the protection and sustainable use of the seas. Previously, he has worked in the field of the practical implementation of international environmental policy, including posts as Deputy Secretary of the OSPAR Commission for the Protection of the Northeast Atlantic and in the Department of Economics and Sustainability of the German Foreign Office. Sebastian Unger studied biology and political sciences.
